The Oil tank : You will need space large enough to have an oil storage tank installed, either in a basement or crawl space. Occasionally, there are instances where the tank can be installed outside. This is called an exposed tank; however, we do not recommend this in the New England climate due to cold winters. PLEASE NOTE: The tank needs to be installed in a location where the oil delivery trucks are able to run the hoses from the truck to the fill pipe.
Installing the fill pipe: You will need to add an oil fill spout and vent. Fill pipes are usually close to where the oil tank is placed in the basement or crawl space.
Installation of heating equipment: You will need to convert over your current heating equipment to oil-fired equipment. A boiler or furnace would be installed depending on what system you choose and house construction.
Venting fumes: Your home must have a chimney or a direct vent flue depending on your circumstances to vent out the fumes.
